Frequently Asked Questions
21  Is your 30" semi-frameless screen exactly 30" wide or is wider - 30" of glass plus the width of the hinge and mounting bracket?
Dear Blair, thanks for your question. The 30" dimension is the overall width, including the gap (which is a little over 0.3") between the glass and the wall. Feel free to contact us again if you would like to discuss further
22  Your FAQs answered lots of my questions. I have another: Do you have the names of one or two pros in San Francisco who have experience installing your screens? I am not "handy" Your product appears to be just what I am looking for. I am thinking of 70 inches high and still deciding between 30 and 33 inches. I would pick semi-frameless because it seems sturdier. I like that you use the thicker glass.
Thanks for your inquiry Mary, I'm glad we covered most of what you wanted to know in the FAQs. We do have the names of installers in San Francisco; can you please send a quick email to email@example.com with 'Installers in San Francisco' as the subject and we'll respond. Regarding the choice of width, there are a few considerations, I recommend calling 800.275.3824 to discuss the pros and cons of each.
23  Do you offer custom sizes?
Currently we do not offer custom sizes, however there are very few situations where a custom size is necessary.
24  I have removed my tub and wish to use a shower screen for a walk-in shower? Would it work?
It is quite common for customers to install our shower screens for use with this type of walk-in set up, usually with the 70" high by 33.5" wide models. We recommend that you check that 33.5" will be sufficient coverage for the spray pattern in your shower (by using a shower curtain for example).
25  Can I buy the hardware from you guys? Hinges, etc.. - Shelley
Thanks for your question Shelley. We don't normally sell the hardware separately but if you'd like to contatct me (firstname.lastname@example.org / 312 239 8937) I may be able to help depending on what we have available.
26  Do I need someone to come out and measure up?
Because there is a gap at the open end of a shower screen, it is not necessary to take accurate measurements. As long as you have sufficient space (height and width) and the walls and tub are plumb and level the the shower screen should fit.
27  I have a one-piece tub surround. Will your shower screens work with this?
It is often possible to install our shower screens with one piece surrounds as long as the surrounds are strong enough to support them. We would normally recommend the semi-frameless model for this application because the weight is supported from beneath (not by the wall of the surround).
28  Where can I purchase replacement seals?
We normally have plenty of replacement seals in stock. You can order one by clicking here.
29  I am installing a frameless shower screen. I have solid wood framing behind the tile and backer board where the screen will go. Do I need to use the anchors? Or can I just install the screws into the framing?
Thank you for your question, sorry it took a while to reply. We recommend using the anchors. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions (email@example.com or 312 239 8937).
30  Where can I download the installation guide?
31  Have an old tub with rounded tops down the length, but flat tops head and foot. Can your screens work?
Hi Janet, thanks for your question. Yes, our shower screens can work for tubs with rounded tops along the length. It is important to make sure that the shower screen is positioned so that the water runs off the glass and back into the tub, i.e. just inside the higest part of the tub. I recommend that you call us on 800.275.3824 to check that your tub would be suitable.
32  I read there was a 24" w version on some models, but see nothing further about which that is?
Thanks for your inquiry Carol. Yes, we have one frameless model, 60" high by 24" wide with a round glass top corner and the ClearShield hydrophobic glass coating (both faces). It is avaialble in any of the hinge finishes shown for $449 + $70 shipping. Please feel free to contact us again (firstname.lastname@example.org or 800.275.3824) if you have any other questions or would like to place an order.
33  I am looking for a list of people who can install your product in Philadelphia. I live in 11930 zip code.
Thanks for your inquiry. You could try Jason Munro, 717.471.0295, he came highly recommended by another customer - hopefully he is close enough to you. Quite often the tiler or similar is happy to do the work; that might be worth a try if you know one. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions, email@example.com or 800.275.3824.
34  If I ordered the shower glass today, when can I expect to receive it?
Thanks for your inquiry Ermine. I apologize for taking so long to get back to you - hopefully it's not to late. The majority of our orders ship the same day if they are placed by noon Central time. Shipping takes 1 to 4 business days, depending on your ZIP code. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions; firstname.lastname@example.org or 800.275.3824.
35  Hi, I'd like to order a door with a 'brushed gold' hinge but all you have is polished gold or polished brass. Is there anyway to get a brushed gold option?
Thanks for your inquiry. We do offer a satin brass finish, which may suit you, see below. Please feel free to call or email us if you have any further questions (800.275.3824 / email@example.com)
36  Do you make custom sizes? 55"x 30" for example
Thanks for your inquiry. Currently we only offer stock sizes - 60" x 30" is the closest we have I'm afraid. Feel free to contact us is you have any other questions, 800.275.3824 or firstname.lastname@example.org
37  The seal has holes on either end that seem to let water in. I can clean it with pipe cleaners but was wondering if you had caps for this seal? Thanks
Thanks for the question. Currently we don't have caps for the bottom seal. However one way to plug the holes is to insert a small amount of clear 100% silicone into each end.
38  My tub is in a corner (not an alcove). Will the water escape at the opposite end of the tub (to where the shower head is)?
We do have customers who use our shower screens over tubs which are in the corner of their bathrooms, rather than in an alcove. Normally the tub is 5 feet long or longer and the water pressure and direction is not sufficient for the water to get past the other end of the tub. One or two customers have installed a second shower screen at the opposite end of the tub however, to ensure that water doesn’t escape here
